Basic purpose of the seminar

As in Hungary the applications of state-of-the-art metholodogies are somewhat less widespread than in the western half of the continent, we found it important to disseminate the most up-to-date, computer-assisted applications. The participants have got a tool which they can use during their regular work as well as in teaching, so a multiplying effect is awaited.

Activities conducted

Preparation of the presentations, translations to Hungarian, preparation of statistical summary, functions and exercises to the cost-optimal charts worked out.

Software (MetaGen, Minitab) installed to the computers - all of the students worked on their own computers, so altogether 9 computers were used.

Outcomes from seminar

The experience helps to eliminate the minor errors found in the simulation software. The new exercises about economic control charts may be included into the CD (the English translation will soon be ready).

We hope that the established contacts to the participating companies will lead to a continued cooperation and sustained improvement in the area, thus ensuring the realisations of the aims of the Pro-ENBIS project. This type of cross-fertilisation, where practitioners from different background and experience meet is the most effective for finding the best solutions for real-life problems.
